Year of Next Gen: Dissecta Report Introduction: to open the show the audience was treated to a 120 second trailer of Sega's Chrome Hounds next gen video game on the big screen. After our MC outlined the show, Chris Mosely of RedTribe was the first to present providing comments on next gen game development and some of the issues confronting the industry. Dissecta expects to have Chris' full speech shortly, for distribution through our Dissecta News email list. Next speaker was Martin Wilkes of Stomp Entertainment... Retail View of Next Gen "In terms of the buyers in the market, if you haven't got a killer title, if you are not EA, if you are not Sony, if its not attached to a next gen console, you're in trouble trying to sell it to buyers" commented Martin. |
"No matter what the strength of your title is, one thing the next gen consoles do at retail is that they eat every single dollar that is available until that product launch has been completed and the cycle can take up three months" said Martin, adding the market has just come out of the PSP cycle. However the hype can exceed the actual sales in the market. And the converse is true, Martin raised the example of the DS, a very popular console that doesn't have the hype surrounding it.
